06 Q4 Web to Print

Sorry. Space is limited, so both sessions are now closed to new registration.

Web-to-Print Seminar Description

Web-to-print publishing enables users to take their web-based content and repurpose it to create a high-resolution, print-ready catalog of the products on their site.

If you have numerous products, are on the web (or want to get on the web) and need to create a high-resolution print-based catalog of your products, then you'll want to join NetReach and co-host, full service commercial printer, Contemporary Graphics to learn how cmScribe's web-to-print catalog generation feature, and modern high-end digital printing technologies can save you time and money.

NetReach’s Stephen Bouikidis will demonstrate cmScribe’s Web-to-print extension going from web-based content to printed piece. Other members of the NetReach staff will be on hand to answer questions as well.

Contemporary Graphic’s Frank Chiliberti will discuss the possibilities of digital printing and showcase examples, focusing on the HP Indigo 5000, a high-end commercial inkjet 6 color press with "variable data" printing capabilities--allowing for cost effective customization of printed materials from small to large quantiites. Frank has been in the commercial printing field for over 25 years and is a wealth of knowledge, so if you’ve got questions he’s got answers.

Background Detail:

The bar on high-end printing services has been dramatically raised. Clients are no longer limited by budget, time constraints or quantity issues to black-and-white or spot-color production. Cutting-edge digital printing technologies have enabled delivery of ultra-high quality full-color offset printed pieces directly from client supplied digital files. Digital technologies have also enabled a “mass-customization” approach to printed matter. For example, say you gather thirty solid leads from a trade show; you’d be able to affordably send thirty printed packages of information tailored to each prospect’s unique needs.

NetReach has capitalized upon this digital printing revolution with the Web-to-Print extension to our web-based content management system, cmScribe. cmScribe already allows users to create and edit content, easily and efficiently through a browser, to their website. Now clients have the additional ability to repurpose web content and create a high-resolution print version of their web-based catalog. Users benefit from a single point of data entry, high quality cross-media publishing and e-commerce capability while saving time and resources.

The web-to-print extension to cmScribe’s e-commerce module uses an automated database-driven publishing model. It relies upon the built in support for XML, tagged text files and print page templates found in Adobe® InDesign® CS2, layout and page design software. The system allows users to select all, or portions of their web-based content for publishing with print formatting attributes automatically inserted on export. When this file, (called a tagged text file) is imported into a print layout and design page template the “tags” are recognized and the formatting is applied. The end result is a faster, less error prone publishing process for marketers to deliver attractive, compelling catalog materials to customers, while reducing workload and keeping costs low. Using cmScribe’s anytime, anywhere browser-based toolset combined with its flexible publishing workflow, the web-to-print extension supports common collaboration and approval processes.
